Allergy Testing At Cumming Pediatric Group

Why let your child suffer from allergies or continue to take medications that only mask symptoms?

We can reduce or eliminate his/her allergy symptoms through a proven method called immunotherapy.

Our unique custom-formulated therapy service can help desensitize him/her to many of the pollens,

molds and other triggers that cause your symptoms and make you uncomfortable.  Our therapy can

allow you to be around those allergens without the common allergic reactions and symptoms.

Ask us how we can alleviate your child's allergies for life!

IS HIGH CHOLESTEROL A CONCERN?

We are now able to check your child's cholesterol level in the office by a finger stick and this should be done if there is a history of high levels in parents or grandparents, or if anyone in immediate family has had heart disease before age 55 years, or if they are diabetic or overweight.  It is suggested by the American Academy of Pediatrics that high risk children be tested starting at 2 years of age.  Ask our staff for a risk assessment.

DO YOU HAVE TROUBLE GETTING THE VIDEO GAME AWAY FROM JOHNNY?

Are there tears and temper tantrums when you limit the use of electronic games such as Wi and Play Station?  Then your child may have become addicted.  The AMA is considering recognizing video game addiction as a mental and behavioral disorder.  Hopefully most children just use them for entertainment and can actually learn problem solving and be creative as well as improve math and language skills on the games.

Excessive time spent on gaming may affect family and social relationships and school performance.  A child can escape into game fantasy and lie about time spent playing instead of doing homework or chores.  It has been reported that the average child plays electronic games 24 hours per week.  Physical exercise might even be negatively affected by that much gaming.

Parents need to be aware of what games their children are playing and how much time the child spends in playing them, much as they would use of the internet.  Setting limits might be a good way to limit their use.  Since the games cannot be saved to return to later, it might be fairer to give your child a warning 15 minutes before demanding the game be turned off.

If you have questions or need advise about use of electronic games consult your Pediatrician.
